FolkAround

FolkAround is an app for getting together with people nearby: a pickup game, a trivia night, a run. Connect your account and get a plan together from the chat: post one ("pickleball Saturday at 9, on if four are in"), ask your group which time works, or say you're in to a plan, a group's question or an event. It always shows you what it will do and waits for your yes, and everyone else sees it in the app. It also shows your plans, what needs your answer, your groups and plans you could join, catches you up on the chat of a plan you're in and posts your reply, changes or cancels a plan you host, turns a group's answers into the plan, and finds groups near you to join.

No account is needed to ask what's on in a town or neighbourhood: official events that verified venues and organizers list, the places where people do an activity and when they're usually busy, and how many plans people have made.

Plans are private by design: without an account it gives counts only, never a plan or a name, and with one it names only a plan's host and links to the plan for who else is in. It reads a plan's chat only for plans you host or are in. Works across the US.
