Grammaropolis for Teachers
ChatGPT pluginGrammar lessons for Grades 1-8
Grammaropolis teaches grammar and writing through characters who are the parts of speech and the punctuation marks. Nelson the Noun files every name in town, Vinny the Action Verb is always mid-rescue, and the Mayor certifies good work.
This plugin gives teachers of Grades 1 through 8 six classroom tools built on that cast:
- Pacing guide: plans your grammar year week by week from your calendar and standards.
- Lesson planner: builds one complete lesson on a topic or a standard, with a character-led hook and the full Learn, Assess, Practice, Create, and Certified cycle.
- Daily sentence: writes five-minute warm-ups with a key that explains every answer.
- Exit tickets: writes short checks whose keys tell you what each wrong answer means, so you know what to reteach.
- Prewriting toolkit: runs one story through eight prewriting techniques so students see how each one works.
- Writing rubrics: builds Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Not Yet rubrics for seven writing modes, with a student self-check.
It also connects to the Grammaropolis lesson catalog, so you can find the lessons that teach a Common Core or Texas TEKS code, browse by grade and topic, and open any free lesson in full.
The connection is read-only and needs no account. It receives catalog lookups (a topic, a grade, or a standards code) and never asks for students' names or work.

Skills
grammaropolis-daily-sentence
Creates a five-minute daily grammar warm-up in the Grammaropolis style for Grades 1-8: a mentor sentence to notice or a flawed sentence to fix, with the student task in a copy-ready block, a teacher answer key that gives a one-line why for every answer, and a short prompt voiced by the Grammaropolis character who owns that skill. Use when a teacher asks for a sentence of the day, a fix-it sentence, a daily edit, DOL, a do now, a bell ringer, morning work, a mentor sentence, or a grammar warm-up, for one day or for a week of five that builds from noticing on Monday to applying on Friday, on a named topic (commas, pronouns, fragments, capitalization) or as mixed review. Not for full lesson plans, grading student work, rubrics, essay feedback, or vocabulary word lists. Grades 1-8 only: decline Kindergarten and high school plainly.
grammaropolis-exit-tickets
Writes a short, standards-tagged check for understanding in grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, writing craft, or vocabulary: an exit ticket (3-5 items) or a short quiz (up to about 10 items), with a separate teacher answer key that gives the rule behind each answer, the standard each item assesses, and what each wrong answer reveals so the teacher knows what to reteach. Use when a Grades 1-8 teacher wants an exit ticket, a quick check, a short quiz, or a retake version, given a grade and a topic or a standard (CCSS or any state's). Each is a standalone check, including one a teacher will drop into a lesson's Assess step; full lesson plans go to the lesson planner. Also use to help a teacher interpret class-wide results. Not for Kindergarten, high school, or non-ELA subjects; writing rubrics; spelling tests; grading or commenting on individual students' work; or quizzing a student directly in chat (for a learner, ask one question at a time and hold answers).
grammaropolis-lesson-planner
Builds a complete, classroom-runnable grammar or writing lesson plan in the Grammaropolis method, one lesson at a time: a character-led hook, then the Learn-Assess-Practice-Create-Certified teaching cycle, standards-cited, with a materials list. Use when a Grades 1-8 teacher needs a grammar, punctuation, sentence-structure, writing, or vocabulary lesson built from scratch, whether they name a topic ("a lesson on proper nouns"), a standard (any state's, or CCSS directly), or just a grade and a general area ("something on writing for my 4th graders"). Grade range is 1-8; do not use for Kindergarten, high school, or non-ELA subjects (math, science, social studies). Not for grading, rubric generation, or essay feedback (those are different tasks). A request for differentiated or tiered versions of the same lesson is still ONE planning request; build the tiers inside the same plan. For a week of lessons or a unit, build one lesson, then offer the next.
grammaropolis-pacing-guide
Builds a week-by-week grammar pacing guide (scope and sequence, year plan, semester plan, or quarter plan) for a Grades 1-8 class from Grammaropolis topics, with every standards code traced to the published Grammaropolis alignment for Common Core or Texas TEKS. Use when a teacher, coach, or curriculum lead gives a grade, a framework or state, and a school calendar (start date or number of weeks, breaks, testing windows, minutes per week), and optionally district units or a textbook, and wants the topic for each week, the codes it teaches, prerequisite-first sequencing before the state test, spiral review, checkpoint weeks, and a coverage check, as a table plus a copy-ready block for Google Sheets. Other states are handled through a crosswalk and labeled for verification. Not for the lessons themselves (the lesson planner builds those one lesson at a time), daily warm-ups, quizzes or exit tickets, or rubrics, and not for Kindergarten, high school, or subjects outside English language arts.
grammaropolis-prewriting-toolkit
Demonstrates the eight Grammaropolis prewriting techniques (Freewrite, Brainstorm, Cluster, 5W & H, Venn Diagram, Five Senses, Series of Events, Character Sketch) as grade-calibrated worked examples, all applied to ONE source story so students see how the same material produces eight structurally different starting points. Given a grade (1-8) and optionally the class's own story, produces a complete worked-example set with teacher framing, or a classroom demonstration script. Use when teaching prewriting, modeling technique selection ("which prewriting tool fits this assignment?"), or preparing a mini-lesson on any single technique with a worked example in front of the class. Not for a writing assignment, a graded lesson or unit plan, finished student essays, subjects other than writing, Kindergarten, or high school.
grammaropolis-writing-rubrics
Generates classroom-ready writing rubrics the Grammaropolis way. Given a writing mode (persuasive, narrative, descriptive, expository-inform, expository-explain, compare-contrast, cause-effect) and a grade (1-8), produces a complete teacher rubric in the Gold/Silver/Bronze/Not Yet format, framed and reacted to by the Mayor of Grammaropolis, with grade-calibrated categories (at most 8 rows by default, a full version on request), CCSS writing-standards alignment per category, and an optional student-facing "Before You Turn It In" self-check derived from the rubric. Use when you need a grading rubric for a paragraph assignment, a student self-assessment checklist, or a one-page rubric reference card for planning or professional development. Not for multi-paragraph essays or research papers, grading student writing, subjects other than writing, Kindergarten, or high school.
